Keenan Vieira is a high class cricketer, born in Johannesburg but based long term in the south of the country. An exciting top order, right-handed batsman that has a 360 degree game, Keenan is not only a top notch wicketkeeper but a more than useful Right-arm Leg Spinner. A schoolboy star, he was a regular for Eastern Province through the age groups.
Having starred for EP at the 2014-15 Cricket South Africa U17 championships, he kicked on to the Eastern Province Khaya Majola Coke Week side as well as the Warriors Cubs side. After he aged out of representative cricket, he moved on to study at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, representing Madibaz from 2016 through to 2019.
Off the back of outstanding form for NMMU as well as the Eastern Province Academy, Keenan was handed his professional debut in a 3-Day First Class fixture against Free State. His incredibly patient 41 (126) helped EP save the game and he’d go one to make his 50-over debut in the trailing fixture. Keenan was then lost to the provincial game for the best part of three seasons before he pushed his way into the South Western Districts at the back end of 2022.
Since his return, Keenan has proved to be a very useful addition to the Badgers line-up, being utilised for all three disciplines, with his Leggies and Wicketkeeping making him an incredibly versatile option for the head coach. He moved to Limpopo ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Keenan has had one previous season of UK experience, a 2016 stint with St Asaph CC in the North Wales First Division. He was excellent for the club, racking up 752 runs @ 57.85 with two hundreds including a magnificent 201* against Conwy CC. His last day 90 saw the club secure promotion as champions to the ECB Premier Division.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Keenan will be a fantastic pick up for any UK club seeking a three-discipline cricketer that has developed a reinvigorated hunger since his well-earned return to the professional scene.
