Khanya Cotani is a talented but raw Wicketkeeper/Batsman, originally from Boland in South Africa’s Western Cape. A hard-hitting Right-hander, Khanya is predominantly a middle order player and tidy gloveman. A schoolboy and provincial star at age group level, Khanya was not only selected to play for South Africa at the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup but to act as Vice-Captain throughout.

Post-school, Khanya relocated to Potchefstroom in 2018 to link with the North West Province and made his first-class debut for the Dragons in the 2018–19 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup in January 2019. Khanya’s One-Day debut came later than month but he’d need to wait for the 2019–20 CSA Provincial T20 Cup to make his first appearance in the shortest format.

Whilst his career has started slowly from a statistical perspective, Khanya has the drive and work ethic to deliver an uplift in those numbers and as he seeks that continuous improvement, he sets his sights on a summer abroad.

Keen to head to the UK for the first time in 2023, Khanya will be a good pick up for a club seeking a young pro, with plenty of upward, maturity beyond his years and a natural leadership quality that will see him be a valued recruit next summer.
