Kieran Kenny is a promising All-rounder from Observatory, Cape Town. A right-arm Fast/Medium seamer, Kieran is also a useful left-handed middle/lower order Batsman. Having represented Western Province at age group level up to U17, he was also selected to play for the Cobras Cubs at the start of 2017.

Since finishing age group cricket, Kieran has been a regular for the Altius United Cricket Club in Cape Town. His seam bowling has been a reliable source of wickets for the club and although he hasn’t scored as heavily with the bat as he would have liked, he’s showed glimpses of his stroke making ability.

2018-19 was Kieran’s first full summer of Men’s cricket, picking up 25 wickets @ 25.68 in the strong Cape Town Premier League. Whilst he didn’t score the runs he would have liked, the odd cameo with the willow took place, including a 30 (16) against Strandfontein CC.

Opportunity came knocking, with domestic expansion and the return of the Mpumalanga Rhinos into the Provincial system., Kieran was swooped on and quickly signed to a deal that lead into an First Class return. Kieran got off to a flyer in the 2022-23 4-Day competition, bagging 14 wickets in the first 3 games with a best of 7-51 against fellow newcomers, Limpopo.

Goal driven and hardworking, Kieran was seeking to play cricket abroad for the first time in 2023 and promptly joined Whitstable CC in the Kent Championship. The season didn’t pan out on field as all had hoped, with Kieran struggling with the ball, collecting just 12 wickets. Off the field, he was excellent with the juniors and feedback about his club involvement was excellent, it just didn’t click for him on the pitch and he’ll look to make amends next time around

Kieran will be a good pick up for any UK club seeking a new ball option that can contribute down the order next summer.
