Lahiru Dilshan

Lahiru Dilshan is an emerging talent from Ambalanthota on Sri Lanka’s south coast. An attacking Right-handed top order Batsman, preferring No. 3, Lahiru has one intention when he arrives at the crease, dominate. A free-flowing style and and outstanding strike-rate in all formats, Lahiru is also a tidy right-arm Off Spinner that has been used on a couple of occasions in the infancy of his burgeoning professional career.

Having arrived on the First Class scene in February 2019 without a storied history of age group representative cricket, Lahiru wasted no time going about making an impression, playing in all 3 formats and picking up 12 games in the latter part of the Sri Lankan season. Playing for Lankan CC, he debuted as an Opener and scored a fairly patient 30 (57). However, 26 of his runs came in boundaries (5 x fours & a Six) as he simply waited for the poor ball and put it away.

By far his best performance to date came in his 5th First Class game, scoring 139 (146) with 14 x Fours & 4 x Sixes, giving Lankan CC an unassailable lead as Navy held on by the skin of their teeth for a draw, 9-down.

Lahiru ventured to the UK for the first time in 2021, linking with Workington CC for the Cumbrian Premier Division season. He put in a solid first shift, scoring 775 runs @ 38.75 with a best of 110* in a successful chase against Whitehaven CC. Lahiru also chipped in with 29 wickets @ 20.14 with a best of 3-29.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Lahiru will look to utilise his time in the UK to continue to develop his off spin bowling which he feels can be a genuine wicket-taking threat next summer. Lahiru is an ECB Level 2 accredited coach.
