Lahiru Madushanka is an outstanding all-round performer from Sri Lanka. A stroke-making Right-hander suited to the middle order, Lahiru is also an excellent Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer that has been one of Sri Lanka’s best performed all-rounders in domestic cricket since his 2012 debut. A former Sri Lankan International, Lahiru represented Sri Lanka on seven occasions across both One-Day International and T20 International Cricket between 2017-2019.

A former junior star for St. Thomas’ College, Lahiru was a star for the Sri Lankan U19 side, finishing the 2012 ICC Under 19 World Cup as the country’s best performer with 126 runs @ 31.50 and 15 wickets @ 8.66 (2nd in the tournament behind Reece Topley). His aggressive style has seen him put together some big performances with both bat and ball and he became a Domestic regular after returning from the World Cup.

Off the back of his domestic performances, Lahiru was included in the Sri Lanka A team for the tour to New Zealand and in January 2017, was named in Sri Lanka’s One Day International squad for their series against South Africa. He made his ODI debut on 4 February 2017 against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, taking his first international wicket in his first over, by dismissing Faf du Plessis, who he knocked over in each of the three games he played on tour.

Lahiru has had one season in the UK, a 2019 stint with Blackpool CC in the ECB Northern Premier League. He was excellent, with 487 runs @ 54 & 21 wickets @ 15 in a season cut-short by a call up for the Bangladesh Series, only to be cut at the last minute but he would make the next squad, for the series against New Zealand, scoring 20 on debut.

Having not been able to come to the UK for a couple of seasons due to not completing his ECB Level 2 qualification in 2019, Lahiru had the sense to use the mid-season break by heading to Australia to visit friends and complete the Cricket Australia Level One whilst there, opening the door for a return to the Old Dart. Lahiru will be an excellent signing for any club seeking a genuine, high-class all-rounder contributor. Lahiru would prefer to travel with his wife and child if possible in 2024.
