Lasith is a highly regarded top order Batsman from Matara in Sri Lanka. A right-handed Opener, Lasith is also a more than capable right-arm off-spinner. A product of St. Thomas College Cricket programme, which has produced countless first class and international cricketers including most recently, Kaushal Silva and Jeevan Mendis, Lasith was an age-group star, representing Sri Lanka at U15, U17 & U19 level.

Debuting as a 19 year-old, Lasith played 3 first class games in his first season but only managed 2 innings as poor weather played its part in the 2015-16 summer. His debut was off the back of some good one day form the month previous but he struggled to get going. Summer 2016-17 proved to be a more productive summer for Lasith in the First Class game with a switch to Burgher Recreation Club. He went on to score 381 runs @ 31.75.

Lasith spent the 2015 summer playing in London as part of an Sri Lankan Academy programme, joining Southgate CC in the ECB Middlesex County League. It was his spin bowling that was a revelation, taking 56 wickets @ 15.55 with a best of 6-18 to go with 714 runs @ 29.75. He returned to the UK in summer 2019, joining Dalton CC in the Cumbria League Premier Division. After a good start with the bat, 66 & 103* in his first 2 games, the runs became harder to come by but his performance with the ball was outstanding, collecting 60 wickets @ 13.22 with a best of 7-42 against Egremont CC.

In summer 2021, Lasith had his first season in the Lancashire League, joining Accrington CC. A mixed year that finished well, Lasith scored 511 runs @ 26.89 and bagged himself 43 wickets @ 16.46 in his first summer in the prestigious league. He returned in 2022, signing for Sudbury CC in the ECB East Anglian Premier League and whilst his overall stats weren’t great, the club finished 3rd in what was an excellent season for the club.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Lasith will be a good pick up for a UK club seeking a genuine all-rounder who will be better for the experience gained in his previous visits. He would like to play in the South as a first preference
