Lehan Botha

Lehan Botha is an exciting talent from Cape Town, South Africa. A hard-hitting, right-hander, Lehan is a tall, stroke-making Opening Batsman and an equally adept Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer. A keen cricketer from a young age, he was a regular for the Western Province Age group sides in his youth. He is currently contracted to the Boland Province.

When a family move of house prompted his family to send him the Cricketer Factory that is Rondebosch Boys High School, his Cricket really stepped up a gear. Lehan earned his first team cap in 2016, aged 15 against SACS as an opening batsman and not long after, scored his first half century against the renowned UK Cricket school, Whitgift School, as they toured South Africa. He continued to fulfil the opener role for the remainder of his time with Rondebosch.

Whilst continuing to simply pile on the runs for the School, the Western Province selectors attention was well and truly caught and he was duly selected to represent and captain the Western Province U17 side, despite being just 16. He finished the tournament in the top 5 run-scorers as Western Province made the final against Gauteng in the National U17 Championships. His part-time seam up bowling became a more regular feature and as he has started to fill out a bit, he has developed not only genuine pace but excellent control of line and length. Lehan was an integral part of the school’s National T20 Competition run as they progressed to the Finals in Pretoria. He finished as the tournaments leading wicket-taker as well as RBHS’s leading run-scorer.

A natural leader, Lehan has continued to shine at each step of his journey and following a stellar 2019-20 which included 569 runs @ 82.28 for the Cape Cobras Academy he was handed a Western Province Semi-Professional contract despite having not yet played a senior provincial game.

He’s spent 3 summers in The Netherlands with HBS Craeyenhout honing his skills and has become a regular feature for Boland in the SA Domestic system, scoring a career best in the 2026-27 season opener, with 170 against the Lions.

On raw talent alone, Lehan certainly appears to be one of the most exciting young talents seeking a stint in the UK in 2027 and we look forward to seeing what his big-hitting and sharp seam can deliver this summer.
