Leo Francisco is a hard working Wicket-Keeper/Batsman from Mowathagama, Sri Lanka. Contracted to Cricket Sri Lanka, Leo is a left-handed top/middle order Batsman, Leo is also a tidy ‘Keeper. Schooled at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, the same school as Rangana Herath, there was no glittering youth career to speak of but he was a regular for the Army Sports Club in the National U23 competitions from 19 years old.
Best described as a bit of a battler, he has been a regular feature in First Class Cricket since his debut as a 20 year old in 2014, racking up 35 appearances for SL Army & Saracens Sports Club. Despite never really stamping his authority on domestic cricket, he has scored 3 tons and 5 fifties in red-ball cricket, showing he can do the business at FC level but just been unable to do it consistently. His talent has been enough to keep the club’s he represents interested but equally frustrated. He was selected for a Sri Lankan Cricket Board XI that took on the England Lions and Bangladesh in Feb/Mar 2017, scoring an outstanding 72 (113) against the likes of both Curran’s, Jack Leach and Craig Overton.
Looking to find that missing ingredient, Leo is seeking to play in the UK next summer to work hard on his game in tough conditions in the hope this will re-ignite his run scoring flow on his return to Sri Lanka.
