Liam Peters is a talented Batting all-rounder from Johannesburg, South Africa. A hard-hitting Left-Hander, he is an assertive stroke player with a nice cover drive and quick on the pull who always seeks to take the game forward. Liam is also an attacking leg-spinner who uses himself sparingly and is an outstanding fielder. His positive approach is a major reason he was deemed the tight man to lead Mpumalanga in their friendlies against the various South African provinces through the summer.
Educated at the prestigious St Johns College Johannesburg, Liam was a standout through the age groups for the school. A 1st XI regular from 15 years old years old, he also represented Gauteng at U15 & U17 level whilst at school. He would go on to study at Witwaterstrand University and captained the Wits University 1st XI between 2016-2019.
Still playing with Wits CC 1st XI, a solid 2019-20 summer (499 runs @ 31.19) and for Mpumalanga (212 runs @ 26.50/11 wickets @ 11.00) has spurred him into eyeing more cricket in the winter to keep his game moving forward and is open to playing anywhere throughout the 2022 Northern Hemisphere.
In summer 2022, Liam joined Ballymena CC in Ireland, scoring 658 runs @ 32.90 with a top knock of 127 and bagging an impressive 29 wickets @ 14.20 with a best of 6-20. He returned to the UK in 2023, joining Avebury CC in the WEPL, scoring 538 runs @ 41 and chiming in with 18 wickets @ 22.
Liam will be a great pick up for any club seeking a hard-hitting top order Batsman that can bowl some much better than useful leg-spin this summer. Liam is also an ECB Level 2 equivalent coach.
