Liam Thompson

Liam Thompson is a high-quality seamer from Adelaide, Australia. A tall, rangy Left-armer, he is also a Right-handed lower order Batsman that currently plays for Adelaide CC in the South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket competition. Liam holds a British Passport.

Schooled at Sacred Heart in Adelaide, he originally plied his trade for Glenelg CC in the SACA Premier Competitions before being poached by Adelaide CC ahead of the 2023-24 season. At 6ft 6in, Liam bowls with genuine pace and has the ability to move the ball both ways, with his height and high-action making him all the more awkward to face.

A sound swing exponent with the new white ball in the shorter formats, he prefers the shorter formats and relishes the middle and death overs, with a solid mix of change up deliveries. He is equally as effective with the red ball, with genuine swing coming from an awkward height.

In the 23/24 season in Adelaide for the red ball fixtures, he took 26 wickets at 23 from 12 matches, with a 5/45 off 23 overs against Northern Districts a standout performance. He also picked up 11 wickets in white ball Cricket in just 5 matches. Liam appeared for the Eastern Comets and the Peninsula Pirates in the newly formed Century Cricket Competition, which is a national competition held in Brisbane and Adelaide. In the latest edition, he took 8 wickets from 5 matches at an average of 15.5.

Summer 2024 saw Liam join Lymington CC in the ECB Southern Premier League. He was excellent, jagging 37 wickets @ 20.86 and picking up game time with Sussex 2nd XI.

Looking for a return next summer, Liam will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a skilful Left-arm seamer that has not only the added luxury of holding a UK Passport but the ability to play at a higher level and is hitting his prime.
