Lukman Meriwala is a high-class seamer from Baroda, India. A Left-handed lower order Batsman, Lukman is a skillful Left-arm Fast Medium seamer that has been an outstanding performer across all three formats since his debut, with a weighting towards white ball cricket. A loyal servant to Baroda, he was selected for the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 edition of the IPL.
Whilst he didn’t make his First Class debut until 2017, he has been just as effective with the red ball as he has been with the white, bagging 85 wickets @ 24.07 in his first six seasons of Ranji Trophy Cricket. He pushed his way into the red-ball side off the back of 4 seasons of outstanding white ball form, having been the leading wicket-taker of the 2013/14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Lukman was instrumental in Baroda winning the title, claiming 3-31 in the Final as they defended a modest first innings total of 144. He’d collected an incredible 21 wickets @ 9.33 for the tournament to finish 6 wickets ahead of the next bloke and has since gone on to collect 97 T20 wickets @ 16.03. His performance to date makes him the 2nd most effective seam bowler (after former WSX Client, Jandre Coetzee) in T20 cricket domestic cricket history worldwide, validated by that stat being subject to a minimum of 1,000 career balls, simply incredible.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Lukman will be an outstanding pick up for any UK club seeking a genuine strike new ball seamer that is simply one of, if not the best, seam bowling options available for next summer.
