Maduka Liyanapathiranage

Maduka is a talented spin bowling all-rounder currently playing first class cricket in Sri Lanka for Chilaw Marians CC. Maduka was selected in the Sri Lankan under 19 world cup side in New Zealand as one of their key spinners. In 2009, he had a good series against Pakistan under 19’s, including a four wicket haul.

Maduka has been an emerging contracted player with Sri Lanka since 2013. He holds the national record of the highest wicket taking bowler in an under 19 school cricket season. In 2013 he was a member of the Sri Lanka under 23 team at the Asia emerging cup in Singapore. He compares his style to Ajantha Mendis and bowls with incredible control and economy. He continues to work hard on his batting which has brought some excellent performances including a stylish 81 against a powerful Tamil Union side.

A player that simply does what it says on the tin, class spin bowling with capable middle order batting, Maduka has just finished his eighth season in the UK for Amersham CC in 2024 and will be a great option for a club seeking an attacking spin bowler next summer that on his day can be destructive with the bat as he shown at various stages of his UK career to date with a best of 201 coming during the 2018 summer.
