Malwande Zamo

Malwande Zamo is a talented all-rounder from Alice in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. A right-handed middle order Batsman, Malwade is also a right-arm medium/fast seamer that with his low trajectory should prove very useful in UK conditions. A junior star, he was a regular feature for Border through the age groups from U13 through to Franchise Cubs. He made his senior debut for Border against KZN Coastal at East London in March 2018. Malwande matriculated from Dale College, a school that has produced many of fine players including the legendary Makhaya Ntini.

Having starred for Dale College and been a regular in the Provincial rep teams, Malwande progressed through to the prestigious Coke Week U19 side and the Warriors Franchise side for the 2015-16 Franchise Cubs week. Highly thought of, he captained the Border Academy the following year.

Having represented his native Border Province in both first-class and List A cricket in South Africa, regular opportunities have been limited but the talented all-rounder remains a key part of Border’s set up and under Cricket South Africa’s new structure, is still likely to feature throughout the summer.

In summer 2022, Malwande joined Ashby Hastings CC in the Leicestershire League, helping himself to 1118 runs @ 50.82 and jagging 41 wickets @ 22.24 in an outstanding return.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Malwande will be a good pick up for a club seeking a tidy all-rounder that can not only contribute with the bat but use his skiddy medium pacers to great effect next season.
