Marcello is a high quality seam bowling all-rounder from Oudtshoorn in South Africa. A capable lower order right-handed Batsman, Marcello is predominantly a strike seam bowler, having burst onto the First Class scene in October 2012. Having been a regular through the age groups for his native South Western Disticts Province, it came as no surprise to those in the know that he would make it at the First Class level.

Following two outstanding performances for the province at back-to-back Khaya Majola U19 Coke week’s, with 7 wickets @ 12.28 (2010-11) & 14 wickets @ 11.07 (2011-12), he was handed his Provincial Cap in October 2012 against Western Province. Having collected 2-32 (10.2) in the first innings, he led an innings route of Western Province as SWD rolled them for just 34 in the second innings, Marcello announcing himself to the First Class world with 7-6 (10). He was contracted at Franchise level for the first time in 2019, joining the Titans franchise.

In his sole previous UK venture, Marcello joined North Staffs South Cheshire powerhouse, Porthill Park CC. In 18 games, he picked up 41 wickets @ 16.15 including 5 returns of 5 wickets or more as Porthill Park stormed to the ECB Premier League title. He also scored 304 runs and his best performance came against Moddershall, with 58 and 5-58 against their league rivals.

In summer 2022, Marcello ventured to Burndennett CC in the North West Cricket Union in Ireland and was excellent. 30 wickets @ 16.43 was an excellent return but his 494 runs @ 35.28 was outstanding.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Marcello is seeking to join a UK club he can continue to develop his coaching at as well as continuing to work on his all round game and will be sure to be a hot pick for next summer for any club seeking a strike new ball bowler.
