Matthew Fourie

Matthew Fourie is an emerging fast bowling all-rounder talent from South Africa’s Eastern Cape region. A hard-hitting Right-handed lower order batsman that has shown on a number of occasions he can make meaningful contributions, his dominant skillset is his raw Right-arm Fast seam bowling, with Matt clocking in around the 80mph mark. He is contracted to his native Border Province.

A top performer at schoolboy level, he attended the prestigious Selborne College and throughout his time at one of South Africa’s best sporting schools, was a regular feature in Border’s various age group sides. Having first appeared for Border at U13 level,through to the U19 Khaya Majola Coke Week side and the subsequent Warriors’ Cricket South Africa Cubs week side.

Such was the promise Matt showed, he was handed his professional debuts in both First Class & One-Day cricket at just 17 years old. His maiden First class appearance came in January 2020, and his List A debut 5 weeks later, just 3 months after turning 17, whilst still at school & just before the dreaded COVID hit.

Consigned to just a handful of appearances after normal life returned, Matt continued to work hard and returned to the Border provincial side during the 2023-24 summer. His T20 debut came in the 2024-25 CSA T20 Knockout, picking up 1-15 (4) against Mpumalanga.

Matthew had his first season in the UK in 2025, joining Sarisbury Athletic CC in the ECB Southern Premier League Division One. The club finished the summer as champions, with Matthew a major contributor and we received outstanding feedback from the club.

Seeking a return to the UK in 2026, Matt will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking a genuinely quick seamer that we’re sure will contribute in the middle order next summer.
