Mbulelo Budaza

Mbulelo Budaza is a sharp, left-arm seamer playing for the Knights Franchise/Northern Cape Province in South Africa. Originally from Grahamstown in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, he was a junior age group representative for Eastern Province at U19 level for the final 2 seasons of age group cricket. Not a noted batsman, Mbulelo is happy to have a late order hit and scores over 60% of his runs in boundaries, so is capable of clearing the front leg when required but by far and away his biggest asset is his left-arm seam, with excellent pace and a “heavy-ball”.

Upon finishing his age group cricket, Mbulelo would go on to debut for his native Border Province at the back end of the 2013-14 summer but Mbulelo would only go on to play another handful of games for Border before switching to the Knights/Northern Cape set up from 2015 onwards. An effective seamer, Mbulelo has gone on to play over 130 games across all three formats and has over 180 wickets to his name so far. He has been particularly effective in one-day and T20 cricket.

Seeking his first season abroad in 2024, Mbulelo will be a great pick up for a club seeking a talented left-arm seamer with raw pace and ability to bowl long spells for next summer. Mbulelo is also a Cricket South Africa Level One coach (ECB Level 2 equivalent).
