Meeka-eel Prince is an exciting young talent from Cape Town originally but now based in Potchefstroom where he is contracted to the North West Dragons Franchise. A hard-hitting Right-hander, he is equally capable of opening the batting in the shorter formats as he is holding the middle order in red ball cricket. Meeka-eel is also a very capable gloveman that represented South Africa U19 in the 2022-23 CSA T20 Cup as well as making his South Africa A debut in August 2024.

From the Western Cape originally, Meeka-eel attended South African College High School in Newlands, Cape Town. A 1st XI schoolboy star, Meeka-eel was selected for the South Africa U19 side, whilst also playing for Ottoman CC in the Western Province Cricket Association before a move North to take a rookie contract the North West Dragons ahead of summer 2023-24.

Having been the leading run scorer in the CSA T20 Cup the season before for the SA U19 side, he joined the Dragons with high expectations of slotting into the 1st XI quickly, featuring in the first official game of the season, making his List A debut against Western Province in Sept 2023. In just his third game, he hit an incredible 166 (140) as the Dragons chased down Boland’s 323.

His first class debut followed in Nov 2023, a dull draw against the Warriors but he’s gone on to be a regular pick for the Dragons across all three formats and it’s not hard to see why, with his classy stroke play showing the talent the youngster has.

Meeka-eel was selected for the South Africa A side to contest the 3-match 50-over series against the touring Sri Lankans, scoring 24, 44 & 31 in his 3 knocks for the Proteas A side.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Meeka-eel will eb an excellent pick up for any club seeking a prolific top order batsman that can take the gloves during the summer.
