Michael Toolis

Michael “MJ” Toolis is an imposing left-handed opening batsmen from Brisbane, Australia. A dominant front foot player with a compact technique, MJ is ideally suited to UK conditions and is also a capable right-arm Leg Spinner. A Cricket Australia Level 2 Coach (ECB Level 3 equivalent), MJ has been a regular in Brisbane’s elite schools, coaching at Marist College Ashgrove (2012-2015) and Anglican Church “Churchie” Grammar School (2018-19). He has also be a Milo Cricket coordinator (Australian equivalent of Allstars) since 2016 for Valleys DCC.

A powerful striker at the top of the order, MJ can play shots all around the ground and likes to occupy the crease. His work ethic in his training approach and encouragement of those around him is exceptional, making him not only a popular team mate but also clubman. He has been a regular for the 2nd XI at the powerhouse Valleys District Cricket Club since 2016 and has continued to improve his game through his hard work approach.

MJ spent his first season in the UK in 2019, joining Lydney CC in the Gloucestershire County Cricket League. His 718 league runs @ 51.29 was a Divisional best and his 21 wickets @ 14.33 saw him finish in the Top 10 for wickets as well.

He returned to the UK in 2022, joining Bradfield CC in the Norfolk Premier Division, scoring 1177 runs @ 49.04 with 796 runs in the league @ 46.82 with a best of 124* against Brooke CC.

Seeking to spend a significant amount of time in the UK/Ireland going forward, MJ is fortunate enough to hold both British and Irish Passports and with his coaching abilities complimenting his Cricket Skills, MJ will be a fantastic signing for any UK club seeking a high quality top order Batsman and high-end coach for next summer.
