Mncesdisi Malika is an attacking Wicket-Keeper Batsman from South Africa’s Eastern Cape region of Border. A hard-hitting Left-hander, Mncedisi is another prospect produced by the Border Bears system and their seemingly incessant talent pool to pull from. Having been schooled at Lindani High School, he was first selected to make his provincial age group debut in the Border U17 side to contest the National U17 Championships in summer 2013-14.
Mncedisi continued to be a regular selection through his final two years of age group cricket and represented the Province at two consecutive Khaya Majola U19 Coke Week tournaments in 2014-15 & 2015-16. He was handed his Professional debut in February 2016 against Border and his First Class debut a month later against Kwa-Zulu Natal. Mncedisi was included in the Border squad for the 2016 Africa T20 Cup and made his List A debut for Border in the 2016–17 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge in October 2016.
In August 2018, he was named in Border’s squad for the 2018 Africa T20 Cup but it was his 3-day form that saw him cement his place in the Border side, as he finished the province’s leading run-scorer in the 2018–19 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup, with 496 runs in 10 games.
Seeking to play abroad next summer, Mncedisi will be a popular choice for any club seeking a tidy gloveman that can contribute heavily at the top of the order with his attacking style sure to entertain the villagers next summer.
