Modiri Litheko

Modiri Litheko is a hard-hitting Wicketkeeper/Batsman from Pretoria, South Africa. A very capable gloveman, Modiri is an exceptional opening batsman that has come through the elite system of Northerns and Pretoria University (TUKS). He made his professional debut at 19 for the Northerns Province in a first class game against Northern Cape in November 2019, a team he would join 5 years later.

A prolific performer in the younger age groups, he first represented Northerns at U13 level and finished up with his final age-based appearance at the 2017-18 Khaya Majola Coke week before heading off to TUKS to study.

Having appeared for TUKS at the 2019 Cricket South Africa Club Championships, he was drafted in to the Northerns side ahead of season 2019-20, making his List A debut in the same week as receiving his First Class cap.

After a hit and miss first few seasons in the big time, Modiri hit his straps in late 2023, starring for the SA Emerging team with back to back fifties. He made a late season switch to Northern Cape for the back end of the 2023-24 CSA T20 Knockout, playing the semi-final and final.

A busy winter say Modiri selected for the SA Emerging side and he delivered on the potential that those around him knew was there, scoring 319 runs @ 63.80 against Zimbabwe with back to back scores of 98 & 105 in the first two 4-day games. He also had scores of 59 & 53 in the One-Day games.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Modiri will be an excellent pick up for a club seeking an emerging talent that is now starting to head into the peak of his powers.
