Nathan Engelbrecht

Nathan Engelbrecht is a skillful Wicketkeeper/Batsman from the rural town of Vredenburg in South Africa’s Western Cape. An accomplished gloveman, Nathan is an easy to watch Left-handed Opening Batsman that was a regular feature for his native Boland throughout the age groups. He is currently contracted to South Western Districts in the South African Domestic system.

Having started his cricket journey with Vredenburg-Saldanha CC, the area’s major club, he represented Boland throughout the age groups as well as the Boland U17 Rural side and became a 1st XI regular for the club in his mid-late teens. Just prior to COVID, Nathan was selected for the Cobras Cubs Franchise squad off the back of solid performances for the Boland U18/West Coast regional side and averaged 50 for the National Cubs tournament.

Summer 2023-24 saw Nathan make his first senior professional appearances for Boland in the Colts XI that took on Border at Buffalo Park in November 2023. His First Class debut came towards the back of the summer scoring a fighting 84* (167) to help seal a draw against a fancied Gauteng side.

With limited game time the following summer after some off-season recruits, Nathan headed to South Western Districts for the 2025-26 summer, picking up a late off-season contract and grabbing the chance to get back into the mix at the professional level. He got off to a steady start but has shone in the CSA T20 Tournament, scoring an unbeaten 42* in the T20 Cup eliminator to secure SWD’s place in the semi-final.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2026, Nathan will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking a high-quality left-handed opening batsman that can take the gloves next summer.
