Naveen Fernando

Naveen Fernando is a talented young Cricketer from Negombo, Sri Lanka. A genuine all-rounder, Naveen is a product of the Maris Stella College, which produced current Sri Lankan Internationals Dushmantha Chameera and Captain, Dasun Shanaka. A Right-handed Middle Order Batsman capabale of batting anywhere, Naveen is also a skilful, swing-bowling, Right-arm Medium/Fast seamer.

Having starred for the school, Naveen was selected for the 2018 Sri Lankan U19 side that hosted the touring Indian U19 side and later that same year, represented Sri Lanka at the U19 Asia Cup. He remained in the U19 squad throughout 2019, facing Bangladesh, Pakistan and the West Indies. Naveen was selected for the 2020 World Cup Squad in South Africa, but didn’t play.

In March 2021, Naveen made his professional debut, a T20 appearance for Chilaw Marians CC. Within 12 months he’d debuted across all three formats, most recently representing Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club in the Domestic First Class competition.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Naveen joined Cornwood CC in the Devon League, picking up 25 wickets @ 21.76 and chipping in with 268 runs. Not a prolific season but a solid first up return.

Naveen is hungry to perform and make the English season a regular feature in his annual calendar. He’ll be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a very promising young seam bowler that is capable of batting wherever he is needed.
