Neil Brand

Neil is a South African cricketer currently playing for the Northerns Titans Franchise. A patient, left-handed Opening batsman, Neil is also a more than capable Left-arm orthodox finger spinner. Schooled in England, Neil attended King’s College, Taunton and would later go on to study at Cardiff MCCU, whom he would go on to make his first-class debut for. That debut came against Glamorgan in April 2015, Neil scoring 46. He would go on to spend much of the 2015-2017 summers with Somerset and then Glamorgan County 2nd XI’s with an eye to perhaps staying on in the UK long term.

However, an opportunity back in SA arose and he made his way back to Pretoria, linking with Northerns in the 2017-18 summer. A List A debut for Northerns and a return to First Class would come at the back end of the summer and Neil has gone on to become a regular in the Titans side ever since, chalking up over 40 games across all three formats.

Whilst in the UK in his teenage years/early 20’s, Neil had stints at Neath CC in Wales and Taunton Deane CC in Somerset. Prolific for both, Neil was also a heavy contributor with the ball in hand as well. In his final 2 seasons of cricket with Neath, Neil racked up 1371 runs @ 72.16 and bagged 42 wickets @ 18.40.

Seeking a return to the UK for the first time as a Professional, Neil joined North Down CC in the NCU Premier League in Northern Ireland. 605 runs @ 50.42 and 18 wickets @ 24.22 was a solid return in one of the best leagues in Europe.

Neil will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a high end Opening Batsman that is more than a part-time contributor with the ball.
