Neil Hornbuckle

Neil is a quality Opening Batsman and Off Spin bowler, currently playing for South Western Districts in the South African 3-Day Provincial championship. A Right-handed Opening Batsman, Neil has cemented his place in the Province’s Top Order since making his debut in summer 2014-15. A clean striker of the ball, Neil cracked his first FC hundred against North West province in November 2015, a stellar 142 off 196 balls.

Neil has had 5 previous seasons in the UK, all with great success for Redruth CC in the Cornwall County Cricket League amassing 2200 runs, 101 wickets in 59 games showing he is no one-trick pony. In 2016 & 2017, Neil shifted north to Salesbury CC and again, showed his all-round class, piling on 2332 runs @ 70.66 and collecting 61 wickets across the two seasons. Remarkably, Neil’s 2017 statistics were affected by a serious shoulder injury.

In summer 2018, Neil joined Milnrow CC in the Lancashire League, scoring 831 runs @ 41.55 with a best of 138* against Colne CC and collecting 39 wickets @ 25.46 with a best of 5-25 against Rawtenstall CC. He joined Denton St Lawrence CC for the 2019 summer and was outstanding, scoring 1195 runs @ 70.29 with a best of 184 and taking 48 wickets @ 15.39 with a best of 5-35. He remained with DSLCC for the 2021 season after missing 2020 due to COVID.

In summer 2022, Neil made the permanent move to the UK, joining Horsford CC as Captain to lead their revival in the ECB East Anglian Premier League. As per, Neil was great, with 992 runs @ 47.24 and 40 wickets @ 24.28. 2023 was a tougher season for the club and they fought off relegation with some key wins in the one-day games at the end of the season.

A CSA Level 2 coach, Neil will be a great pick up for a club seeking a top all-rounder that can contribute in all facets of the game. Neil is an absolute gentleman off the field and a keen golfer and will have no trouble fitting in to any UK club.
