Oliver Da Costa

Oliver Da Costa is a skilful spin-bowling all-rounder from Durban, South Africa. A stroke-making Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, Oliver is also a crafty Off-Spinner that gets genuine turn and has proven to be a very reliable and consistent performer for Maritzburg College, a renowned Cricket School that has developed many First Class players over the years.

Spoken of very highly by KZN star and now Maritzburg College DoC, Kyle Nipper, Oliver has a great ability to put pressure on batters and control the scoring rate, making him a vital cog in the College 1st XI. With an ability to score freely and all around the field, his work ethic and commitment to the team makes him a great asset for any team

Oli was selected in the KZN Inland u16 team in 2022 and was additionally part of the Dolphins School of Excellence High Performance program for the 2022/2023 season.

Whilst he’s continued to represent the College 1st XI, he has also been a long term member of the Crusaders Cricket Club, playing in the 2nd XI whilst at school and upon conclusion of exams, should find himself in the club’s 1st XI for the 2024-25 summer.

Seeking his first season in the UK, Oli joined Conwy CC in the ECB North Wales Premier League, scoring 800+ runs in a great first outing, which was a pleasant surprise. He also chipped in with 22 wickets which was probably a bit light on expectations but overall, a good first up return.

Looking to make use of his British Passport and head to England to continue his cricket development. He’d like to join a friendly but ambitious Club for the summer that he can play a genuine all-round role for and evaluate where he fits in to the UK Cricket scene.
