Oliver Whitehead

Oliver Whitehead is a very promising emerging all-round talent from Cape Town, South Africa. A Right-handed Middle Order Batsman with the vast array of strokes a young cricketer tends to have in their repertoire these days, Oliver is also a Right-arm Fast Medium seamer that has talent to burn. A schoolboy star for SACS High School, he represented South Africa at the 2024 ICC Under 19 World Cup.

Having been a standout for SACS at schoolboy level, Oliver also made a number of appearances in the Cape Premier League for the Sixers U17 side. His performances for the school and for Western Province U19 at the December 2023 Khaya Majola Coke Week were enough to cement his place in the South African-hosted World Cup the following month, making three appearances for the junior proteas.

He has already worn national colours in the form of a 2023 cameo for the South African emerging players side in the CSA One-Day Challenge, scoring 222 crucial runs to help them scrape home against Northern Cape.

Summer 2024-25 saw Oliver make his Cobras debut in the CSA T20 challenge Qualifier game, scoring a run-a-ball 40* in a fruitless pursuit of the Titans 182. He’d earlier picked up his first professional wicket, recent Proteas debutante, Dayyaan Galiem. A first class debut followed just prior to Christmas 2024 against the Knights.

Seeking his first season abroad in 2026, Oliver is clearly a very highly thought of all-round talent, and given the opportunity to showcase his skills this summer, the promising youngster will surely be a great acquisition for any club looking for a genuine seam-bowling all-rounder.
