Paballo Mogoera is a talented Top Order Batsman from the Free State province in South Africa. A patient Right-hander, Paballo is also a handy off-spinner. An age group representative through his teens, he represented Free State at U15 level and also at U19 level, playing in the 2013-14 CSA Khaya Majola Coke Week tournament. He made his First Class and List A debut’s in March 2016. He has also represented the University Sports South Africa side, competing in the CSA Future Cup in 2017-18.
Well thought of locally in the Free State, Paballo is described by Knights Franchise Captain, Pite van Biljon, as not only a hard-working cricketer that is dedicated to improving his game with the right approach to training but is a great guy and the type of persona club will enjoy having around the club environment.
Despite a fairly steady first 3 seasons in the First Class arena, since the back end of the 2017-18 season, the hard work that has gone into Paballo’s game has started to pay divdends. His improved performances have seen him score his maiden First Class hundred (115 vs Easterns) in 2018-19 and he backed this up early in summer 2019-20 with a career best 152 vs Boland in November 2019.
Paballo has two previous seasons of UK experience, having joined Brislington CC for the 2016 summer, scoring 719 runs @ 29.96 with a best of 159* and 22 wickets at 31.36 with best figures of 3-21. In 2021, he had a shortened stint with Brooke CC in the Norfolk Premier Division, scoring 297 runs @ 27.00 and bagging 20 wickets @ 19.00 with a best of 4-28.
He returned in 2022 to join Bardwell CC, an ambitious Suffolk club with promotion in mind and Paballo delivered. His 1549 runs @ 129.08 and a lazy 65 wickets @ 13.08 saw the club win the league and continue their drive up the Two Counties League structure. He returned in 2023, again helping the club into prime promotion position, with 761 runs @ 58 and 34 wickets @ 20.
Seeking a return to the UK, Paballo will be a good pick up for any club seeking a promising Batsman that can bowl some tidy off-spin next summer. Paballo is also a CSA Level 2 coach (ECB Level 3 equivalent).
