Pathum Kumara

Pathum is a talented and proven batsman currently playing first class cricket in Sri Lanka for Nugegoda. After making his first class debut in Feb 2020 he has now played over 100 matches at first class level with an excellent first class record. Pathum’s proficiency at the cricket crease is exceptional. His confidence and attitude for scoring runs makes him a nightmare for bowlers. He is a versatile player with the ability to score runs all around the ground, making it arduous to set an effective field for him. Pathum’s astute understanding of his game enables him to play to his strengths, making him a formidable asset to any team. Moreover, he is not just a proficient batsman but also an outstanding wicket-keeper with excellent reflexes and a safe pair of hands.

Before taking up the gloves on a semi full-time basis, Pathum used to be a competent off spinner. Still possessing these skills, he would make for a useful bowling option at club level. Pathum began his professional career with Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, where he has been a prominent player since his debut season. As he has matured, his performances have also improved, as evidenced by his impressive display in the 2022/23 First Class season, where he amassed a total of 1000 runs at an average of 58.82, which included four centuries and four half-centuries. In the same year, during the List A tournament, he scored 271 runs with an average of 45.16, including four half-centuries. These outstanding achievements led to his selection by Jaffna Kings for their Lanka Premier League campaign.
