Peter Hatzoglou

Peter Hatzoglou is exciting leg-spinner from Australia, most recently representing the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, having previously represented the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades. Originally from Victoria, Peter represented Sunshine Heights CC for much of his developing years before linking with Melbourne University CC in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition in 2017-18.

Of Greek heritage, Peter signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the 2020 Big Bash League off the back of outstanding form for Melbourne Uni the previous summer, 38 wickets @ 17.32. He was outstanding in the 2020-21 BBL, bagging 17 wickets @ 22.88 with a best of 3-43 against the Adelaide Strikers. He was named Rookie of the Year following his impact in his firsts season. In July 2021, he signed a two-year deal with the Perth Scorchers. He joined the Hurricanes for the 2023-24 season.

A more than capable Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, Peter bats between 4-6 in Premier Cricket and was excellent for Prospect DCC, in the SACA Premier Cricket competition averaging 30+ in his his two seasons at the club.

Pete has had 4 seasons of previous UK experience, a 2019 stint with Ashton-on-Mersey CC in the Cheshire League, a 2022 summer with ECB East Anglian Premier League winners, Sawston & Babraham CC and two short stints with Buckhurst Hill CC in Essex in 2023 & 2024. Across his 50 games in the UK, Pete has bagged 100 wickets and in his short 2024 stint, his a ridiculous 185 (110) as BHCC chased down Brentwood’s 341 in just 39 overs.

Peter was picked up for a couple of games in the Hundred with the Oval Invincibles late in the season during his 2022 stay and in 2023, was signed for Glamorgan in the T20 Blast.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Peter will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a genuine spin-bowling all-rounder for this summer that brings big game experience with him.
