Rafael “Raf” MacMillan is a gifted young cricketer originally from Sydney but now based in Tasmania where he is contracted to the Tasmanian Tigers in the Australian Domestic system. A clean-hitting Right-hander that can bat anywhere in the middle order, Raf is a very talented Right-arm Off Spinner that is a genuine wicket-taker. Raf plays his club Cricket with North Hobart in the Cricket Tasmania Premier Cricket Competition.
A St George District Cricket Club junior, Raf represented the club at every level, AW Green Shield, Poidevin-Gray Shield and ultimately First Grade as a 17 year old. Having represented NSW in a variety of representative sides through the age groups, Raf was selected for the Australian U19 side to contest the 2024 ICC Under 19 World Cup hosted by South Africa. He played a key role for the victorious Australian team, seeing them home in a tense semi-final run chase against Pakistan shepherding the tail and then 3 days later, he broke Indian hearts with 3-43 in the final to help scupper any chance of a successful Indian chase.
On return from the World Cup Raf was a huge part in the St George First Grade title win, bagging 5-53 to have Manly reeling and playing a key role in the success at NSW Cricket Central Oval. After a season oozing with success, Raf was signed by Tasmania for the following 2024-25 summer, joined the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL and made his Sheffield Shield debut for the Tigers.
Seeking his first season abroad in 2026, Raf will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking a genuine spin-bowling all-rounder that is a genuine wicket-taker but also has plenty of upward curve with the bat. Raf holds a British Passport.
