Raymond Toole is a high-quality Left-arm Seamer currently based in Hastings, New Zealand and contracted to the Central Districts Stags in the NZ domestic system, representing the state in both red & white ball competitions. South African-born to British Parents, Ray grew up in both Australia and New Zealand before ultimately settling in New Zealand from 2017.

Having progressed through the New Zealand pathway system, representing Manawatu and Central Districts A along the way, Ray was rewarded for his excellent form and consistency with a debut for the Stags in summer 2019-20. In summer 2020-21, Ray was the 5th highest wicket-taker in the Plunkett Shield, bagging 22 wickets @ 26.86 with a best of 4-38 against Auckland in a close one at Eden Park.

A left-armer that swings the balls both ways, Ray is also both an economical as well as strike new-ball bowler but is building a reputation as a death bowler in white ball cricket. Ray was drafted in to the Central Districts set up of the back of strong performances for Manawatu with his excellent fitness and ability to bowl long, controlled spells proving enticing to the Central Districts Coaching staff.

In summer 2022, Ray linked with Belhus CC in the ECB Essex Premier Division, helping himself to 40 wickets @ 21.18 and winning selection for Essex CCC for 3 Royal London Cup fixtures, picking up a best of 2-19 as Essex flogged Yorkshire. On his return home, Ray picked up where he left off in England, contributing heavily to Central Districts success in the early parts of the T20 Super Smash, with 9 wickets @ 22.00 in his first 5 appearances

He returned in 2023, joining Shotley Bridge CC in Durham, picking up 45 wickets in all competitions and was picked up by Durham for a County Championship game against Leicestershire. He again returned home carrying good form, collecting 17 wickets @ 23.35 in the 2023-24 Ford Trophy & 18 wickets @ 24.05 in the Plunkett Shield.

Ray returned to the UK in 2024, joining Hem Heath CC in the ECB North Staffs South Cheshire Premier Division, picking up 40+ wickets for the club.

Holding a UK passport, Ray will be a great pick up for a club seeking a genuine new ball swing bowler for next summer.
