Rodney Mupfudza

Rodney Mupfudza is an emerging Top Order Batsman and part-time spinner from Harare, Zimbabwe. A stroke-making Right-hander that can bat anywhere in the top order, Rodney is also an occasional spinner, bowling both Off & Leg Spin. Contracted to the Eagles Franchise, he also plays his club cricket for Takashinga in the National Premier League/Harare Competitions.

Having been identified at a young age, Rodney represented Zimbabwe at every age group from Under 13 through to U19. He remained in the selectors sights, despite completing his schooling in South Africa at Durban High School, for whom he represented their 1st XI and also played club cricket for Topham CC in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Premier League.

After completing his age group cricket, Rodney first appeared for the Eagles in the 2019-20 Logan Cup competition, making two pre-COVID appearances, with his First Class debut coming against the Tuskers, scoring 21 & 55* to see the Eagles home by two wickets in the second innings. 50-over and T20 debuts came twelve months later.

A period spent playing in Cape Town was concluded with a return to the domestic system ahead of summer 2023-24. He re-joined the Eagles and was outstanding in the 50-Over competition, scoring 159 runs @ 53.00 in 4 appearances and being selected for the Zimbabwe Emerging Players for the African Games (March 2024) and Zimbabwe U25 (July 2024) Tour to England.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Rodney will be a shrewd signing for any club seeking a top order batsman with plenty of upward curve looking for his first full season in the UK after getting a taste for it in 2024.
