Ronan Herrmann is a classy Wicketkeeper/Batsman, originally from Gauteng. An elegant Right-hander with immaculate timing, he attended Hoerskool Noordheuwel, not a renowned Cricket school by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, until Ronan surfaced, the school had never had a player represent the province at the prestigious Khaya Majola Coke Week, let alone go on to represent South Africa at U19 level.

The fact he is the first to do so isn’t a blight on the school, but more a blight on advantage the “big schools” have in shoehorning their players into various representative teams at age group level. Prolific for the school and at provincial trials, Ronan had to work twice as hard to be noticed and despite bucketloads of runs he wasn’t considered until U15 selection, when 400 runs in 5 games was deemed acceptable by the province. He’s never looked back and the hard work has never stopped.

Continued battery of age group bowling attacks saw Ronan not only win a place in the Proteas 2022 ICC Under 19 World Cup squad hosted by the West Indies, but make his professional debut aged just 18 for the Lions in the CSA One-Day Challenge, playing alongside a cast of current or former Proteas. First Class and T20 debuts followed and in late 2023, was selected by the Joburg Super Kings to feature in the 2nd edition of the SA20. In summer 2025-26, at just 21 years old, he will captain Northern Cape in South Africa’s Domestic system.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2026, Ronan is a class act that will be a popular pick for any club seeking a top order batsman that has the potential to be one of the signings of the season next summer.
