Roshen is a top draw player who over many seasons now has been one of the leading run scorers in the Sri Lankan 1st class circuit for Colts cc. His 1st class record is sensational averaging nearly 50 with over 4500 runs in 74 matches. In 2011 his rich vain of form was not unnoticed and gained him selection for the Sri Lanka A tour to England. In 2012 he was selected for the Sri Lankan cricket board XI and was again selected for the Sri Lankan A side for 2 matches against a very strong South African A touring side the same year.
Roshen’s ultimate goal is to play for Sri Lanka and has been in the Test squad previously. A star of the future and one of the most exciting talents to come through Sri Lanka. A patient Number 3, Roshen likes to build his innings but also has a wide range of shots and is a good rotator of the strike. To compliment his batting, Roshen is also a useful off-break bowler although not used alot at first class level due to the team having the likes of Test player Dilruwen Perera and up and coming star Akila Dananjaya in their ranks.
In 2014, Roshen finished his maiden season in the UK playing in the North Yorkshire South Durham Premier League for Guisborough CC where he had a great season, finishing with 941 runs and 40 wickets. He followed this success with a further A team tour, on which he scored 47 in the first innings and a fantastic match saving 120 Not Out in the 2nd innings against NZ A. In a shortened 2nd UK stint, with Coleraine CC in Northern Ireland, Roshen smashed 366 runs and took 21 wickets in just 9 matches.
In December 2017, Roshen made his long awaited Test Debut, scoring a patient 74* (154) to save the match against India. He has made himself a regular in the Test middle order ever since.
Roshen returned to the UK in 2022 as a test cricketer, joining Chorley CC in the ECB Northern Premier League. He was excellent in tough conditions, scoring 927 runs @ 38.63 and chipping in with 18 wickets with a best of 5-9 against Leyland CC
A player who is keen to get heavily involved with club life and speaks excellent english, Roshen is looking to return to these shores next summer. A high class option and one of the best pro’s on the market he would represent a excellent addition for any club.
