Rudi Second is a high-quality Right-handed Top Order Batsman, Wicket-Keeper and Off Spinner from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. One of South African Domestic Cricket’s best performed Batsmen since his first appearances in 2010-11, Rudi is arguably one of the best players not to have been capped by the Proteas during his time in the elite level.

An outstanding contributor across all 3 formats, Rudi cut his teeth with Eastern Province whilst studying at NMMU. He relocated to the Knights Franchise in Bloemfontein in 2011 where he spent the best of 10 years plying his trade. He returned to his native Warriors ahead of the 2019 season.

In August 2017, Rudi was named in Cape Town Knight Riders’ squad for the first season of the T20 Global League, which was cancelled. The following summer, he was named in Nelson Mandela Bay Giants’ squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament.

In 2019, Rudi was named in South Africa’s Test squad for their series against India but he was ruled out of the tour due to an injury. Rudi was named in the Test squad again for their series against England later that year and was unlucky not to get a first Test appearance having scored runs against the English in a tour match for South Africa A.

Rudi has had 5 seasons of experience in the UK with early stints at Camborne CC and Biddestone CC in 2011/12 respectively. His prolific performances for them didn’t go unnoticed up north and he joined Milnrow CC for 2 seasons in the Central Lancs League/Pennine League in 2014 & 2016. He returned in 2023, joining Haslingden in the Lancashire League who promptly re-signed him for 2024. All up, his 100 or so matches on English soil have yielded 4,500+ runs to go with a cheeky 120+ wickets.

For any club seeking a high-end Professional that contributes off field just as much as he does on it, look no further.
