Ryan is an experienced all-rounder from Zimbabwe who fortunately enough holds both Irish and British Passports. A powerful right-handed Middle Order Batsman and Right-arm seamer, Ryan joins Greg Lamb as another senior Zimbabwean ex-Pro, looking to return North for the winter.
Primarily a batting all-rounder, Ryan spent 10 years plying his trade on both sides of the equator and was called up to Zimbabwe’s senior squad for their tour to Bangladesh in 2010/11, having scored 165 runs @ 82.50 at a strike rate of 183.33, in the Stanbic Bank T20. He also chipped in with 6 wickets in 6 games. Ryan made his first-class debut in 2000-01, for the CFX Academy, having been one of their standouts through his time there. After a stop-start time of it, he joined a number of players who left Zimbabwe in 2005, seeking a career playing league cricket in the UK.
With stints at Cannock CC (Birmingham and Districts League), Clacton (EAPL), Olton and West Warwickshire (Warwickshire Prem), Bradninch (Devon League), Whitehaven (North Lancs and Cumbria League), Eglinton (North West Cricket Union) and most recently Northern Cricket Union champions for 2012 CIYMS, Ryan has a wealth of experience as a club professional.
He resumed his professional domestic career in 2009 having returned to Zimbabwe to play for the Mashonaland Eagles. His return season would be his most prolific, scoring 608 runs at 30.40 including two hundreds.
Ryan is an experienced performer, who is now eager to return to league cricket and his solid club form for the Dragons in the Harare Winter League, which features plenty of recognisable domestic names, shows he is still capable of utilising that professional experience. A great guy, Ryan will be a handy, mature pick up for the 2022 summer.
