Ryan Gibson is a brilliantly talented Top Order Batsman from Sydney’s Western region of Penrith. A fluet right-handed top order Batsman, Ryan is also a capable right arm leg-spinner who also bowls medium pace. Identified as an outstanding young prospect and duly selected for the NSW U19 side in back-to-back seasons, Ryan has progressively improved as he reached the higher standard of cricket on his pathway to a NSW Cap.

His outstanding form in Sydney Grade Cricket in summer 2015-16 saw him force his way into state calculations. Incredible back-to-back scores of 204* (238) & 217* (290) against Blacktown and Gordon respectively saw him crack the magical 1000 run mark in Sydney First Grade seeing him enter elite company in the process of players to have done so. He was a regular for the NSW Futures League U23 side and over the 2015-16 & 2016-17 seasons would be one of the states leading run scorers with 746 runs @ 53.29.

He would start summer 2016-17 in the Cricket Australia XI for the Matador One-Day Cup, scoring a 106 (130) on debut and a month later, would be awarded his state Cap albeit batting at No. 7. In what was a watershed time for his career, he would also make his Big Bash Debut for Sydney Thunder in the 2016-17 summer. He has gone on to make over 30 state appearances since.

After exceptional form for Penrith, an interstate move to South Australia beckoned with opportunities with the SA Redbacks and Adelaide Strikers. Having been prolific at club level, 708 runs @ 88.50, Ryan was picked up by the Strikers for the majority of the 2020-21 Big Bash League.

Seeking his first season in the UK, Ryan is keen to join a County or ECB Premier League club that have good facilities and can allow him to continue to work on his all-round game next summer. Ryan is fortunate enough to be eligible for a UK Ancestral Visa and will be a popular choice for next summer.
