Ryan McCarron is a very talented young seamer from the Far North Queensland centre of Townsville. A tall, athletic young man, at just 17, Ryan had already reached 6″4′ and still filling out. Currently playing for Norths CC in the Townsville 1st Grade competition, Ryan is a hard working Right-hander down the order, putting a high price on his wicket. His main discipline is by far and away his Right-arm Medium/Fast seam up bowling.

With an economical action conducive to staying fit, injury free and able to bowl consistently throughout a long days play, Ryan keeps things simple as he looks to hit the seam and keep things tight. This doesn’t take away from his ability to clean a team up, as he has showed in summer 2021-22 with 25 wickets @ 12.84 by early new year.

An excellent fielder with a good arm and a safe set of hands, Ryan is everything you would expect from a Queenslander, competitive and a good team man. He highlighted his talent with a hatrick in just his 3rd game in A Grade.

An all-round sportsman, Ryan plays Touch football and Rugby as well. Serious representative honours came in 2021-22, as Ryan was selected for the Queensland Country Under-19 side. A stint in Brisbane Grade Cricket surely won’t be too far away either.

Ryan ventured to the UK for the first time in 2022, joining Bromyard CC in the Worcester Premier Division. He had an excellent start to the summer and overall bagged 31 wickets @ 22.19 in a season that was sadly cut short due to the passing of his father, who had not long been over to visit during the season.

Determined to keep improving and despite personal setbacks, Ryan seeks to return to the UK next summer in search of constant improvement. Ryan is also a Cricket Australia Level 1 coach and is looking to move his coaching to the next level with an enthusiasm for youth coaching that will surely come in handy during the summer.
