Sahan Nanayakkara

Sahan is a Spin bowling allrounder with a bright future currently playing first class cricket in Sri Lanka for Ragama CC. He showed his promise from a very young age when in his last school cricket season he took 92 wickets. In 2014 he joined the powerful Ragama CC playing alongside current Sri Lankan Test players Roshane Silva and Lahiru Thiramanne.

In 2015 he was selected to play for the Sri Lankan National development squad for South Africa tour of Sri Lanka. A very easy going and fun loving guy who always gives 100% commitment not only with his displays on the pitch but with his coaching talents ensuring the development of kids of all age groups.

Summer 2018 saw Sahan venture to the UK for the very first time, joining Cookham Dean CC. His form throughout was exceptional with 78 wickets @ 10.29 with an incredible best of 8-26 against North Maindenhead and his efforts saw the club promoted to the Home Counties Div 2 for the 2019 season. He returned to CDCC for 2019, despite the increase in standard, Sahan was still a standout, collecting 47 wickets @ 15.45 with a best of 7-40.

In summer 2021, Sahan joined Belhus CC in Essex as they sought to maintain their position in the Premier Leagues and he was yet again outstanding, bagging 35 wickets @ 15.43.

A player with a big future who comes highly recommended, he is sure to be a handful again next summer. He is looking to return for the 2024 season and will be available for the whole season.
