Sameera is a talented Batting All-rounder from Colombo, Sri Lanka. A talented Right-handed top/middle order Batsman, he is also a more than useful off-spinner. Having been schooled at St Benedicts College, he was selected to play for the Sri Lankan Development XI against the touring Scots, playing alongside fellow WSX clients, Hashen Ramanayake and Lasith Lakshan.

Sameera would bide his time for Colombo U23’s and Antonians Sports Club before switching to Navy Sports Club in summer 2014-15 and he would eventually make his First class debut for them in 2016-17. After a good start to his career in 2016-17, scoring 448 runs @ 40.72 in his debut season, he switched to Kalutara Town for 2017-18 and 2018-19 he shifted to Kurnegala Youth CC, trying to recapture that excellent early career form.

Sameera has had three productive seasons in the UK previously, all with Millom CC scoring 2447 runs @ 44.49 and collecting 108 wickets @ 18.81 in his three seasons with the club. With both club and Sameera seeking a new direction for 2021, he joined Cleethorpes CC in the South Yorkshire League. Throughout the summer, Sameera was excellent with 780 runs @ 43.33 and 58 wickets @ 13.59 as the club secured promotion back to the ECB Premier League.

He returned to Cleethorpes in 2022, bagging 54 wickets @ 25.93 and scoring 746 runs @ 33.91 as the club achieved their aim of retaining their place in the Premier League having coming up at the end of the 2021 season.

He joined Cockermouth CC in Cumbria for the 2023 season and was solid but limited with weather, his 383 runs @ 34.82 and 31 wickets @ 16.35 was a strong contribution with his time in the middle pretty limited.

A great lad, he will be a great pick up for any club seeking a quality top order Batsman that is a much better off-spinner than his First Class record would indicate, with proven performance consistently in the UK. Sameera is also an ECB Level 2 coach.
