Sampath Perera

-Sampath Perera is a highly experienced and highly regarded seam-bowling all-rounder from Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. A former schoolboy star for Sri Sumangala College, he was drafted into the National Fast bowling academy throughout 2006-2009 and making his professional debut at the end of 2007 in the Premier Limited Over tournament. A crafty right-arm Medium/Fast seamer, Sampath is also a capable Batsman and infact, started his career as an opener.

Following 5 seasons of toiling away in provincial cricket, Sampath moved to Australia to pursue a player coach role in Melbourne with South Caufield CC from 2012-2018. His impact was immediately positive and the club retained him through to the 2017-18 season when he decided to return to Sri Lanka for the 2018-19 season to give First Class cricket another go.

From 2014-2016, Sampath spent the English summers with Prestatyn CC in the Liverpool Competition. His 3 seasons yielding 145 wickets at an incredible average of 13.14 with a best of 9-10 as Alder were bowled out for just 18 in 2014. Amazingly, he had taken 9-52 in a match against Spring View just 4 weeks prior.

Seeking a return to the UK in 2022, Sampath is an experienced campaigner seeking to continue his late career revival and is looking for an ambitious club for next summer that he can help to take to new heights.
