Sean Gilson

Sean Gilson is a gifted All-Rounder from Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. A classy left-hander that bats in the top/middle order, He is an equally adept Right-arm Off-Spinner that made his professional debut for the Dolphins Franchise in South Africa in summer 2023-24.

Schooled at the prestigious Michaelhouse School in Kwa-Zulu Natal, he was a schoolboy star that represented KZN from U13 through through to the U19 Khaya Majola Coke Week side as well as the Dolphins Cubs at the 2016-17 Cubs Franchise tournament, where he was a standout, with 155 runs & 16 wickets in 5 games. Sean left Natal to head north for study, joining Pretoria University (TUKS) and their elite cricket program.

His talent translated quickly into performance and he was a regular fixture in the TUKS 1st XI almost from the outset and for the following 4 seasons whilst he completed his studies, dominating the Northerns Premier League and representing TUKS at the Cricket South Africa National Club Championships. He also represented Northerns Province via their Colts side at the back end of the 2021-22 summer.

At the conclusion of his studies, Sean returned to Natal to re-join the Dolphins system. Having performed well for the Dolphins Colts side, he was handed a First Class debut in November 2023, scoring 50 in a big win over his now teammates @ KZN Inland Tuskers.

Sean has had one previous season in the UK as a 19-year old, with Great Brickhill CC, picking up 495 runs / 34 wickets in a tidy first season abroad.

Keen to return to the UK next summer, Sean will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a high quality top order batsman and off-spinner for next summer.
