Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith is a talented Wicketkeeper/Batsman originally from New Plymouth, New Zealand but now based in Dunedin on New Zealand’s south island. A very capable gloveman, Seb is also a clean-striking Left-handed Opening Batsman that has been in and around the New Zealand pathways system since his mid-teens.

Having attended New Plymouth Boys High School he was a standout for the school and one of the top performing schoolboy cricketers in New Zealand. In his final, national-level, outing for the school in the 2020/21 Gillette Cup, he struck 160 runs in three innings including a 94-ball 101 against Otago Boys High.

He’d represented his native Central Districts from U17 through to the U19 side to contest the National Championships for three consecutive summers from 2018/19 through to 2020/21. He relocated to Dunedin to study in early 2021.

In summer 2021-22, despite being based in Otago and playing for University Grange CC, Seb made two appearances for the Central Districts A against Northern Districts A & Wellington A in March 2022. He opted to remain in Dunedin post-study for work and his cricket. He is part of the Otago Cricket development system and plays in the Premier League for North East Valley CC. This summer he has performed well for Otago A, scoring 336 runs in six innings in early season games to date.

Seb has one previous season of UK experience, making use of the first year of his UK Ancestry Visa and joining Kettering Town CC in the Northamptonshire Cricket League First Division in 2024. He was outstanding for the club, scoring 1133 runs @ 47.21 with a best of 114 against Wellingborough Town. He was also tidy behind the stumps, with 34 dismissals and even bagged 7 wickets in the Sunday league with a best of 4-9 with his occasional Right-arm Off Spin.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer. Seb will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking an in-form Top Order Batsman that can take the gloves next summer. Seb would prefer to play Premier League Cricket next summer.

A qualified New Zealand Cricket Level One coach and holds a UK Ancestral Visa allowing him to live and work in the UK with ease and enables him to get heavily involved in club coaching, something he has plenty of experience with.
