Sharne Mayers is a high-class all-rounder from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. A hard hitting Right-handed opening batter, Sharne is also a tidy Right-arm Off Spinner that first represented Zimbabwe Women as a 14 year old back in December 2006 against Uganda. A natural leader and student of the game, Sharne captained the National side against Scotland in the 2017 World Cup Qualifier.
An aggressive top order batter that is capable of batting wherever she is required to within the order, she has made her mark for Zimbabwe in the T20 format, with her brutal style making her the ideal candidate to get in early against the new ball and powerplay fielding restrictions. She has represented Zimbabwe on over 80 occasions to date and currently sits in 4th place for leading T20I run scorers for the national side.
Having missed most of the 2023-24 season with a knee injury, Sharne opted to have surgery and rehab to ensure she could hit the ground running for the 2024-25 season. The decision was a great one, as she dominated the 2024-25 T20 Cup for the Tuskers Franchise, finishing the tournament as the country’s leading run scorer with 445 runs @ 49.44 with an almighty strike rate of 144.01. Not content with simply topping the run scoring list, she showed no signs of the injury that has held her back post-COVID and bagged herself a ridiculous 18 wickets @ 8.38 to finish atop the the wicket-taker log.
It was only fitting that she steer the Tuskers to the title, dominating the final with 3-7 (4) to restrict the Zim U19’s to just 106 and then seeing it home with 66 (53) as the Tuskers won the T20 National Cup Final by 8 wickets in August 2024.
Seeking her first season abroad in 2025, Sharne will be an excellent pick up for any UK club looking to add a skillful and attacking all-rounder to their Ladies roster for next summer. Sharne is a qualified Cricket South Africa Level One Coach (ECB Level 2 equivalent).
