Shingi is a quality international cricketer from Zimbabwe. A former professional Footballer, Shingi switched to Cricket in pursuit of international honours, following in his brother Hamilton’s Footsteps. A fine cricketer in his own right, Shingirai is a quality opening bowler and capable lower order batsman. Since his international debut in 2012. Shingarai has gone on to represent his national side on 28 occasions across all formats.
A both impressive and improving first class record show that Shingarai is a conistent performer at the elite level and should be heavily considered for any club seeking a new ball bowler that can bat in the middle order. In summer 2018, Shingi joined Dalton CC in Cumbria for their league campaign. In a solid first outing, he scored 593 runs @ 28.24 with a best of 78 and helped himself to 53 wickets @ 18.55 with a best of 6-35.
He returned to the UK in 2019, joining Stokesley CC in the ECB North Yorkshire South Durham Premier League. Shingi was once again a solid contributor with 470 runs @ 21.36 and 46 wickets @ 20.98 across the season. His work off the field was even more impressive as he proved to be a popular coach amongst the juniors and a very personable player/coach to have around the club in general. He returned to the NYSD in 2021, linking with Great Ayton CC.
In summer 2022, Shingi joined Ackworth CC in the Yorkshire Southern Premier League and put in probably his best UK performance to date, cracking 776 runs @ 40.84 and nabbing 44 wickets @ 15.14 with a best of 9-24. He returned in 2023, powering his way to 1052 runs and 61 wickets in another outstanding performance. 2024 was much of the same, 1100+ runs & 40+ wickets in another solid return.
Aa good fielder and general all round athlete, Shingirai would be a great addition to any UK club seeking an All-Rounder with international experience for next summer.
