Shoun Roger is a gifted young Indian cricketer from Trivandrum, Kerala. A classy first-drop, Right-handed top order batsman, Shoun is also a very capable Right-arm Off Spinner that has been a regular feature for his region at age group level since he first represented Trivandrum at U14 level in the KCA Junior programmes as an 11 year old. The following year, he was selected in the Kerala U14 side for the South Zone championships as a 12 year old.

Having progressed through to the Kerala U16 and U19 sides, Shoun was selected for India U19B in the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup selection trials. Whilst it didn’t go to plan and he didn’t board the plane to the West Indies-hosted event, he has remained firmly entrenched in the Kerala system, transitioning to their U23 side and making his professional debut 2 days after turning 20 in a T20 against the powerhouse Maharashtra side in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

A First class debut followed shortly thereafter in Dec ’22, backed to make the number 3 slot his own, he had a steady start with 1 & 29 in a big win over Jharkhand. He had a couple more opportunities that summer but with aspects of his game to work on, he returned to the U23 side to regain some confidence and did so, scoring 165 (196) against Chandigarh to put himself back in the mix for the Ranji Trophy side.

He had an extended run in Kerala’s successful 2024-45 Ranji Trophy campaign, as they made the final in February 2025. He carried the drinks for the final though, with his career-best 59 in the Qtr Final not enough to secure a place in the XI for the big dance. However, its not all doom and gloom, with Kerala seeing Shoun as the future of the side having entrusted him at No. 3 despite his inexperience, he is merely at the start of a long and exciting cricket journey.

Having established himself as a regular Ranji player, Shoun is looking to keep the good form going by venturing to England for his first stint as an Overseas professional in summer 2025. Shoun will be shrewd pick up for any club seeking a top order Batsman/Spinner for this season that has a scary amount of upward curve.
