Simon Khomari is a seasoned campaigner originally from Bloemfontein but now based in South Africa’s Western Cape. A patient left-handed opening/top order Batsman, Simon is also a tidy left-arm Orthodox spinner. A schoolboy star, Simon was a regular feature in the Free State age group sides from U15 right through to the U19 side, representing Free State at U19 level from the age of 17 and attended three consecutive Khaya Majola Coke Week Tournaments, the prestigious national U19 provincial championship. Simon was also selected in the South Africa Emerging players squad for the 2016 tournament against Sri Lanka Emerging players & University Sports SA XI.

Off the back of his accomplished age group performances, Si was selected for the South African U19 squad to contest the 2010 ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand and within 18 months of exiting age group cricket he would be handed his debut First Class cap for his native Free State side. Simon would go on to represent his home province on 60 occasions across all three formats before a move to the Cape Cobras/Boland ahead of the 2015-16 summer. He has since gone on to play for the Cobras/Boland on over 100 occasions.

In constant search of improvement, Simon has had 5 winters abroad in either Holland (Groen & Wit CC – 2014 & 2015) or England (Wellington CC – 2011 & 2018. Marehay CC – 2012). Using his time abroad to try and develop his all-round game and play in different conditions to build his game.

His career record in provincial cricket is to many, certainly to Simon, a career that probably has not fulfilled its potential. After being involved in the emerging players tournament, he showed more consistent form and his numbers improved and he had an extended run in the Cape Cobras side over the following couple of seasons.

Si return to the UK in 2022, linking with Tenterden CC in Kent. In a tough year for the club, he held his own, scoring 885 runs @ 42.14 and bagging 37 wickets @ 21.24 with a best of 6-8 against Ashford. He backed this up with 605 runs @ 43 and 22 wickets @ 20 in summer 2023.

Now seeking a return to the UK, Simon will be a good pick up for a club seeking an experienced Top Order Batsman and Left-arm Orthodox spinner that can bring a wealth of big game experience to any UK club next summer.
