Sol Balbi

Sol Balbi is a bright young talent from Sydney’s Northern Suburb of St Ives. A athletic and aggressive Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer, with good control and economy, Sol is a right-handed lower order batsman that puts a price on his wicket without being prolific and is an outstanding fielder. From a Cricket-loving family, Sol is currently representing UTS North Sydney CC in the NSW Premier Cricket Competition whilst his brother plays for rival club, Sydney CC.

Having made his debut for North Sydney as a 14-year old in the club’s 5th Grade side, as he matured and filled out, he reached as high as 2nd Grade. A well-built young man that enjoys his gym time, Sol prides himself on his work ethic but has had to build a resilient mental fortitude as a result of a number of injury setbacks during his late teens that have seen him miss more than his fair share of cricket.

Now coming through the back end of this tough period and very much looking forward to his early 2023 return to Cricket on-field, Sol has made excellent use of his time off-field, continuing his cricket education under the guidance of coaching wizard, Neil D’Costa and Aussie Legend, Brett Lee, who has been Sol’s private fast-bowling coach.

Seeking his first placement in the UK in 2023, Sol linked with Yorkshire powerhouse, Hoylandswaine CC for his first taste of UK cricket. He got off to a flyer, picking up 6-6 against Emley Clarence CC but his niggles were hard to escape and provided a big restriction on his performance and experience this summer. Still, he ended the season with 15 wickets @ 18.87.

Benefitting from a UK Passport, Sol is eager to join an ambitious but friendly club for next summer that can help him get some much needed game time. A qualified Level 2 equivalent coach, Sol will be a positive addition to any club seeking a young seam bowling prospect that is a very personable character to have a round a club.
