Tafara “Taffy” Mupariwa is a talented Left-handed Wicket-keeper/Batsman from Zimbabwe and a member of an enthusiastic cricketing family. A ‘keeper by trade, Taffy is also a capable right-arm off-spinner. Born in Bulawayo, Taffy’s two older brothers, Tonny and Tawanda both played First class cricket as well with Tawanda, the oldest brother, representing Zimbabwe at International level in all 3 formats on 45 occasions. However, Taffy has made his own pathway. Having been schooled at Durban High School in South Africa, Taffy was selected for Kwa-Zulu Natal at both U17 & U19 level in 2013 & 2014 respectively.
A hard worker, his training ethic is outstanding and following the conclusion of his schooling, he debuted at First Class level for the Bulawayo-based Tuskers Franchise just two months after his 2014 Khaya Majola Coke week appearances for Natal. In his first appearance in the big time, he ground out a solid 47 (129) having arrived at 79-5. He would marshall the tail to bat with him and muster up a total that was ultimately enough for a first innings lead and a win.
Having his first season in the UK since 2016, Taffy re-joined Cullompton CC for the 2022 season after a successful previous stint with the Devon club, which had yielded 591 runs @ 39.40 with a best of 133 against Axminster CC last time around. His 580 runs @ 41.43 with a best of 143* was again a solid contribution for a player committed to improving his game.
Patient and composed, Taffy prefers to bat in the top order and in his constant quest for improvement, seeks to head to the UK for a third time. A keen coach, Taffy is looking to join a social but competitive club for next summer.
