Tanaka Chivanga

Tanaka “TK” Chivanga is an emerging talent from Zimbabwe that until now has mostly earned his stripes playing club cricket in Johannesburg. A lower order hitter, Tanaka is a tall seamer with genuine pace that has made a huge mark on the Gauteng Premier League over the last few seasons. Playing for Delfos CC in the Guateng Premier League and the Cavalier Cats in the Lenasia Premier League (Local Franchise T20), Tanaka has become one of the most dreaded opponents on the local cricket scene. His tall frame and heavy ball have seen some of the best club cricketers in Johannesburg hopping around in their creases. He was involved in the Lions Academy over his last 2 years in South Africa.

Clocking in at just a touch under 90mph, his 108 wickets @ 13.97 since 2017 for Delfos alone has caught the attention of his native Zimbabwe and at the start of the 2020-21 domestic season, he was offered a contract with the Mashonaland Eagles Franchise for the domestic season. On debut at First Class level against Mountaineers in December 2020, Tanaka collected 3-32 (11) in the first innings.

Looking for his first trip to the UK in 2021, TK will be a real handful in club cricket in England and will be a good fit for a club seeking a genuine spearhead for next summer that is a handy lower order hitter that has a big arc and has no trouble clearing the boundary. TK is also a Cricket South Africa Level One Coach.
